It’s the fifth title in five years for Team KIA Racing China and Hexathron Racing Systems in the China Touring Car Championship (CTCC).

After the back to back titles in 2015 and 2016 with the KIA K3s 1.6 and the double title (drivers and manufacturers) in 2018, this season ended with the Manufacturers title, in 2019 the Team KIA Racing China took part at the Championship with the new car model KIA K3 which the racing version has been completely designed by Hexathron Racing Systems.

Last weekend, the korean official team managed by the people of Start Sports Racing under the lead of the owner Mr. Du Jun and Team Manager Mr. John Ling, has conquered the Manufacturers title on the street circuit of Wuhan and for the second year in a row. Since 2015, Team Kia has prevailed on other brands competing in the championship such as Volkswagen, Ford, Toyota, Honda, HAIMA and BAIC.

Once again the technical support from Hexathron Racing Systems has been fundamental: for the four KIA K3 2.0T, the engineering company based in Milan has provided three Race Engineers for trackside support during the development testing sessions and during the eight race weekends. This season, the overall performance of the car has been increased in several areas, because it has been completely designed at Hexathron Racing Systems headquarters during the winter. The focus on Aerodynamic and Chassis improvement has brought the KIA K3 into the position of reference competitor to be beaten in the Chinese series.

Marco Calovolo (Founder & Owner Hexathron Racing Systems): “The result that we achieved in Wuhan last weekend it’s really important to us as it has a different taste compared to the previous four titles won with Team KIA Racing in 2015, 2016 and 2018. This year’s car, new model of the already winning KIA K3 2.0T, is the result of the accurate and precise job done over the winter by the engineers of Hexathron Racing Systems. All the components of the car have been redefined and optimized, from the chassis to the roll-cage, continuing through the aerodynamics (internal and external) and the overall weight loss. This lead to a general improvement of performance. This long design has helped to keep an very high competitive level against the other manufacturers. The CTCC is a very competitive series with big investments brought in from the brands which keeps the global level really high. Our opponents have brought to the field international drivers with outstanding value such as Rob Huff (World Touring Car Champion in 2012) or Colin Turkington (4 times BTCC Champion) and other top drivers like Pepe Oriola (WTCC and WTCR experienced driver). The achieved results are the proof of how valuable the cooperation between the technical support of Hexathron Racing Systems and the excellent job delivered by all our drivers during the development tests and the race events is. A big thank you to them is mandatory and well deserved. Further on, I’m delighted to announce that Hexathron Racing Systems has been confirmed as main technical partner (for the sixth year in a row) of Team Kia Racing for season 2020 in the CTCC.
